WINDHOEK, 17 APR – The man accused of stabbing another man to death at Otjerunda in the Kunene Region earlier this month, has been arrested.
Lukas Shitongeni Muupaka, 36, was apprehended at the Omanduu village in the same region on Friday.
He reportedly fled shortly after allegedly stabbing Ueripuravi Tjijeura on 07 April 2018.
Muupaka appeared before the Opuwo Magistrate’s Court on Monday and his case was postponed to 30 July to afford him time to acquire a legal representative.
He was denied bail.
Muupaka and the victim had allegedly been drinking home-brewed beer at Otjerunda before the incident.
Confirming the arrest, Crime Investigations Coordinator of the Namibian Police Force in Kunene, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Kanyetu told this news agency that it was not known what transpired between the two before the stabbing.
Tjijeura succumbed to his wounds before the police arrived at the scene.
