ONDOBE, JAN 31 – A man that was shooting randomly in a public space was arrested at around 06h30 on 29 January at Omhokolo village, Omulonga Constituency. This was after a report that was made by a member of the public and when police attended to the complaint, they found the suspect in possession of arms and ammunitions without a license.
“He allegedly discharged those arms in a public space, multiple times. The police further searched the suspect’s room and found more ammunitions. It is alleged that the suspect is a former UNITA fighter,” said NamPol in a report.
The nature of the ammunition found was: One x Avtomat Kalashikov 1947 (AK47) Rifle; 1 x Pistol Magazine; 1 × live round 9 mm Calibre; 2 X Rifle Magazines; 17 × AK 47 live rounds; and 8 × Spent cartridges found at the scene
The suspect, 39 years old Namibian male, a resident of Omhokolo Village, was arrested and police investigation continues.
Elsewhere, in Kalkrand a police search/operation resulted in the confiscation of drugs that were valued at N$22 250 and a 33-year-old suspect was arrested and will be charged withDealing in Dependence Producing Drugs. According to a police report, on Friday 28 January at about 21h25 on the C-21 Gravel road from Kalkrand to Hoachanas, police found 160 x Mandrax tablets, Skunk (Cannabis) 255 grams and 3 x parcels of pure cannabis 230 grams. – musa@namibiadailynews.info
