REHOBOTH, 29 JULY – The Kunene Second Division on Sunday concluded its matches with already-crowned champions, Outjo Football Academy (OFA) ending the campaign on a high after resounding 2-0 victories against Gariseb Orlando Pirates and Robber Chanties.
The battle for second spot went to Etosha United after they ended tied on 39 points with their neighbours Young Eagles, but with three goals more than their rivals who finished third.
On Saturday, Kunene Namibian Police (NamPol) defeated Young Eagles 3-1 in a match played in Opuwo at the Newman Katuta Stadium, while PUBS slipped up on second spot by losing 3-1 against rivals Black Africa Warriors in Outjo at the Etoshapoort Stadium.
Sixty Eleven scored five goals without reply against Bethlehem Boys, with Robber Chanties hammering Green Dangers 5-2 in Khorixas at the Herbert Conradie Stadium.
At the same venue, OFA also defeated home team Gariseb Orlando Pirates 2-0.
The final round matches continued on Sunday with OFA beating Robber Chanties 2-0 in Khorixas, while Gariseb Orlando Pirates were back to winning ways against Green Dangers, defeating the Kamanjab-based team 5-1.
In Opuwo, Kunene NamPol won by a solitary goal against Etosha United, while PUBS and Sixty Eleven played out a 2-all draw.
Black Africa Warriors continued where they left off by winning 5-1 against Bethlehem Boys.
The final league standings saw OFA accumulating 53 points, followed by Etosha United and Young Eagles. Kunene NamPol finished fourth with 36 points and PUBS in fifth place with 36 points, but two goals less than the former.
Black Africa Warriors and Gariseb Orlando Pirates, both with 32 points, ended in sixth and seventh place respectively. Bethlehem Boys took eighth spot with 21 points, followed by Sixty Eleven in ninth on 16 points.
Green Dangers finished in 10th place with 15 points and Robber Chanties 11th with 13 points.
A total of 415 goals were scored – OFA topped the scoring with 65 goals, while Robber Chanties conceded 67 goals. OFA also held the record for the team with no defeats all campaign, while Robber Chanties were on the losing side 15 times.
Etosha United had the meanest defence, conceding only 10 times, while they were tied with Kunene NamPol on most draws, with both teams drawing six times each.
