KEETMANSHOOP, July 28 — The Keetmanshoop State Hospital was used as one of the polling stations.
During morning hours, members of the public flocked to the hospital to vote.
“Seeing the economic situation the country is in but then again looking at the benefits that politicians are getting and them being the ones that should be taking care of the state resources are not even bothered to cut some of their benefits.
“The fact that they are no worries about us as civil servants makes it easier for us to choose to strike,” a civil servant who declined to be identified said.
“I fully support the strike because I have been working for the government for eight years at the Keetmashoop State Hospital without any raise in salary but everything else is going up daily,” another civil servant said.
Voting closes at 17h00 today. More civil servants are expected to vote at different voting stations nationwide.
