Kavango East youth planning expo

RUNDU, 15 Mar. – A youth organisation in the Kavango East Region called Kavango Youth Got Talent (KAYGOT) is hard at work organising an entrepreneurship youth expo for the region.
KAYGOT’s chairperson, Hildefons Kavara during an interview with Nampa on Wednesday said although the expo is slated for late September, they needed to start at the beginning of the year to ensure its success.
The chairperson of the organisation, established in 2012, said the first of its kind expo aims to allow the youth from all parts of the country to carry out business activities successfully on a small scale. It also wants to create a platform where youth from different parts of Namibia can showcase and exchange skills, as well as to sell their services and products.
Kavara said the event, to be held under the theme, ‘Empowering the youth in Namibia through entrepreneurship development’, will be hosted by KAYGOT in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture’s Directorate of Youth Development.
He said they had hoped to host the event much earlier, but due to a lack of support, its inception was delayed.
“Companies are also welcome to take part in the expo, as it will give them a chance to interact with the youth that will take part in the expo.”
KAYGOT marketing officer, Carlos Jeremias said they have seen the need for youth empowerment in different areas and establishing such an event will give youth from both Kavango regions and the nation at large, the opportunity to showcase their skills, talent and businesses.
The activities expected at the expo also include exhibitions of visual arts and crafts, sport and cultural activities, as well as a talent show.
