WINDHOEK, Apr. 6 – Kwaito star Lazaras Shiimi, a.k.a. Gazza, is ready to bring the house down at the Young African’s Commonwealth Festival 2018 in Brisbane, Australia.
Responding to an email from Namibia Daily Newspaper, Gazza admitted the sheer weight of expectation has played a part in propelling him into the upper echelons of the Namibian music sphere.
“For me its an honor, I have been working my towards this type of recognition my whole musical career. It is an honor that comes with a lot of responsibilty and weight over (my) shoulders that we shall do our best to represent,” said Gazza via email.
The GMP supremo particularly thanked his fans whom he credits for his success, and insisted that the invite extended to him to perform in Australia is a victory for all.
“Thank you for pushing me this far because this is not an achievement for Gazza, it is an achievement for the GMP family.”
Moreover Gazza, who performed at the Germany 2008 Commonwealth edition, had some wisdom to impart on upcoming artists who may wish to follow in his steps.
“There is no blue print or menu on how to do this. First Believe, Invest and Take Care of your craft and then craft will start believing in you and it will start paying you back in your investment.”
The Festival show takes place on Wednesday, 11 April on the Main stage, Surfers Paradise beach, Brisbane, and Gazza will perform alongside artists from Ghana, Tanzania, South Africa, Mozimbique and Nigeria. Gazza will leave for Australia tomorrow.
