A fourteen-year-old boy who raped his six-year-old stepsister repeatedly has been put under the care of his parents while a police investigation has been launched.
Incidents of rape committed by underage boys are reported frequently in remote communities with victims’ ages ranging from one year to elderly grandmothers over 70.
The latest incident occurred in July and again on Friday around 15h00, at Onankali village in the area of Okatope in the Oshikoto region.
According to Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, the suspect raped the victim at home in his bedroom several times whenever their parents were away.
“It is alleged that the suspect used to threaten the victim with beating not to report the abuse to anyone,” said the police.
The two children reside in the same house, and no arrest has been made so far. However, the police investigation into the matter continues.
This comes two days after a 79-year-old woman was allegedly raped and robbed at Onashitendo village of Omusati Region’s Tsandi constituency.
It is alleged that the suspect took N$300 from the victim by force and then raped her.
