WINDHOEK, 22 APR – A five-year-old boy drowned in a canal at Oshitutuma village in the Oshikuku in the Omusati Region on Friday.
The Head of Media Relations at the Namibian Police Force, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said in the weekend crime report Lasarus Fillemon had been herding goats near the water canal when he went missing.
His body was later found in the canal.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man drowned while swimming with friends in a water pan at Olukeno village in the Oshikoto Region on Friday.
He has been identified as Awene Oupa Tuna-Omukwathi.
His body was retrieved on Saturday by police reserve force members.
His next of kin are informed and police investigations continue.
In Windhoek, a 28-year-old man died after being stabbed in a fight in Monte Christo Road.
The incident occurred around 01h20. A 33-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the stabbing.
The deceased’s next of kin have not been informed yet and police investigations continue.
At Enghombo village in the Omusati Region, a 42-year-old man allegedly hanged himself Friday at 12h40.
The deceased has been identified as Kafula Markus. No suicide note was left behind but the police do not suspect foul play.
His next of kin are informed.
Another suicide was reported in the Omusati Region after the body Simson Shuuya Leonard, 30, was found hanging from a tree with a wire around his neck at Oshitumbe village.
The body was found Saturday around 06h30.
No suicide note was found and no foul play is suspected.
A 30-year-old man also hanged himself at Grootfontein on Saturday.
The body of Shilandu Jason Nghifikepunye was found hanging from a tree near Spar.
The deceased is from Ongha village in the Ohangwena Region.
His next of kin are informed.
In the Omaheke Region, an unidentified man died instantly after being stabbed on the forehead and in the chest at Gobabis on Saturday.
The incident occurred between 23h00 and 23h45 at Freedom Square in Epako.
The suspect is also unknown and police investigations are in progress.
Anyone with information on the incident is requested to contact the nearest police station.
