Katima Mulilo, July 22 – A self-proclaimed Zambian witchdoctor left many people in Katima Mulilo in a state of shock when he claimed that he killed several people through black magic.
Kuputa Siyanga, who allegedly came to Namibia from Zambia illegally, has been practicing traditional medicine in Katima Mulilo since last year.
In his recent fallout with the local community, Kuputa better known as Lumonyi, allegedly assisted a man whose son was arrested for allegedly raping a minor in Maaravani West.
The father to the suspect allegedly approached Kuputa and asked that he extracts revenge on his behalf through black magic on the mother of the minor rape victim.
Kuputa allegedly used his magical powers to incapacitated the victim’s mother who cannot walk properly walk properly and her hands itch, especially at night as a result of the alleged magic spell.
When he was interrogated by senior Induna Mudelele, Kuputa allegedly confessed to have not only bewitched the rape victim’s mother but also killed several others including his ex-wife through magic.
The spokesperson of the traditional council discouraged members of the community from using the services of just any traditional healer without first consulting the council.
The regional head of the council of traditional healers in Zambezi, added that Kaputa has been ordered to treat the rape victim’s mother before he is handed over to the immigration authorities for deportation.
Efforts to get comment from police spokesperson Inspector Kisco Sitali were fruitless.
