WINDHOEK, July 12 — The Capricorn Foundation, a corporate social responsibility organization, has recently committed N$750,000 to their implementation partner, Imago Dei, a welfare organization dedicated to assisting vulnerable communities. Through this partnership, the Capricorn Foundation aims to identify, mobilize, and channel resources to those in need.
Numerous projects have been funded by the Capricorn Foundation through Imago Dei, including the Hope for Life Foundation, Burgershoek Children Community Project, Grace Welfare Project, Namibia Christian Women Aid Society, and Family of Hope Services. These initiatives address prevalent societal issues and provide essential support to individuals and families facing challenges.
As part of their commitment, the Capricorn Foundation and Imago Dei recently visited two beneficiaries of their support. One of these beneficiaries is the Family of Hope Services, which operates as a pre-primary school, kindergarten, and afternoon care centre for 145 school-going children aged 3-17. The centre provides daily meals and supports an additional 255 children who visit on specific days for the community feeding program. Their programs focus on socio-economic stability, remedial schooling, afterschool activities, food and nutrition, and psychosocial support. Registered as a welfare organization since 2003, they reach approximately 400 children daily, empowering marginalized and abused children and fostering resilience, hope, joy, and dignity within the Havana community.
Millinda Coffee, Imago Dei Welfare and Poverty Relief Association Project Coordinator expressed gratitude for the Capricorn Foundation’s support. The longstanding partnership between Imago Dei and the Family of Hope Services has positively impacted the lives of the children who benefit from their services. Through the Capricorn Foundation, Imago Dei provides funding for food items and gas bottle refills for the project’s food and nutrition program.
Another beneficiary of the Capricorn Foundation’s support is the Hope for Life Foundation, a registered non-profit Welfare Organization in Namibia. Their primary focus is providing counselling, support, and training to individuals facing unplanned pregnancies. Additionally, they offer temporary care for babies awaiting adoption and operate a registered place of safety for infants. The Hope for Life Foundation assists with registering babies at the nearest ante-natal clinic, provides compassionate counselling and information on pregnancy options, and supplies toiletries and clothing for mothers and babies. They also offer business starter packs and mentoring to individuals seeking to improve their lives. Currently, the project receives funding from Imago Dei, facilitated through the Capricorn Foundation, covering the salary of a half-day social worker.
Marlize Horn, Capricorn Foundation Executive Officer, expressed gratitude for the partnership with Imago Dei. The Capricorn Foundation is committed to reaching those in dire need and ensuring that funds are allocated to assist vulnerable communities. Their dedication to making a positive impact in the Namibian community reflects their commitment to providing financial assistance to those who need it the most.
Through their partnership with Imago Dei, the Capricorn Foundation continues to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and communities. Their ongoing support and commitment to social responsibility exemplify the positive change they strive to achieve in Namibia. – Namibia Daily News
