WINDHOEK, SEPT. 10 – Two nine-year-old girls were raped in separate incidents over the weekend.
The weekly crime report issued by the Namibian Police today said the first girl was allegedly raped by a 54-year-old man at Talismanus in the Omaheke Region last Friday.
The incident occurred around 21h00.
The suspect was arrested the same night and appeared in the Gobabis Magistrate’s Court on today.
The other girl was allegedly raped at Tses in the //Kharas Region on Saturday around 22h00 while she was sleeping.
“The suspect [36 years old] was arrested and police investigations continue,” read the statement.
Elsewhere, police reported that a 25-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself with an electric cable in Windhoek on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as Dean Jojo Nawa, was found hanging from a bathroom window at his home in Pionierspark.
Nawa left behind a suicide note and his next of kin have been informed.
Meanwhile, the body of Alberto Groenewaldt was found hanging from a tree in a riverbed near Funky Town and the Park Foods shopping centre in Windhoek on Sunday.
