RUNDU, 08 OCT – A 13-year-old girl is recovering from a gunshot wound to the chest at the Rundu State Hospital after she was struck by a bullet fired by an unidentified man at the Tuhingireni informal settlement in the early hours of Sunday.
Namibian Police Force Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bonifasius Kanyetu confirmed the incident to Nampa on Monday, saying the victim was sleeping with two other children when the bullet hit her.
The girl, identified as Mestilde Nyama Mbambi, is in a critical but stable condition.
Kanyetu said the firearm used in the incident is still unknown.
The suspect is still at large.
A case of attempted murder has been opened and investigations continue.
