Welwitschias in Russia for European tour


REHOBOTH, 06 NOV  – Namibia’s senior rugby team landed safely in Krasnodar, Russia on Sunday in preparation for their international friendly matches against Russia, Spain and Portugal as part of their European tour.
A statement availed to Nampa by the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) on Tuesday said the team has been received well by the host.
It further said the team will have an off day on Wednesday, while the remaining days will be spent in the gym and on field rugby training in the afternoons.
Their first match against Russia will take place at 14h00 on Saturday in Krasnodar, with the game against Spain following on 17 November and the final match against Portugal on 24 November.
The players selected for the tour are Andre Rademeyer; Casper Viviers; Desiderius Sethie; Jason Benade; AJ De Klerk; Obert Nortje; Niël Van Vuuren; Tjiuee Uanivi; Ruan Ludick; Adriaan Ludick; Thomasau Forbes; Max Katjijeko; Renaldo Bothma; Prince Goaseb; Rohan Kitshoff (Vice Captain); Damian Stevens; Wihan von Wielligh; Cliven Loubser; PW Steenkamp; Henrique Olivier; Darryl de la Harpe (Captain); JC Greyling; Janry Du Toit; Johann Tromp; Chrysander Botha; Chad Plato; TC Kisting and Justin Newman.
The management team of eight is made up of Phil Davies (Head Coach); Irvin Newman (Team Manager); JP Nel (Assistant Coach); Dominic Le Roux (Player Monitoring); Sam Pickford (Analyst); Dr Vernon Morkel (Team Doctor); Innis Erasmus (Head Physio) and Sergio De La Harpe (Strength and Conditioning).
