WINDHOEK, 16 JUNE – Namibia National Reinsurance Corporation Ltd (NamibRe) donated 44 blankets worth N$ 30 000 to the Namibia Red Cross Society (NRCS) here on Friday.
NRCS received the blankets on behalf of vulnerable families and individuals exposed to harsh and freezing winter conditions.
NRCS Secretary General Naemi Heita, while receiving the donation, said during winter they receive many requests from families struggling to protect themselves and those whose houses have been destroyed by fire.
“It’s quite heart breaking to turn their requests down. Let’s keep the spirit of ubuntu alive for the general wellbeing of everyone. The donation goes a long way in alleviating human suffering,” said Heita.
NamibRe Managing Director, Patty Karuaihe-Martin said she believes the contribution will respond to the needs of the targeted beneficiaries.
