Khomas Netball League kicks off

REHOBOTH, 23 Apr – The Khomas Netball League kicked off over the weekend in Windhoek.
The start was initially scheduled for the previous Saturday, but had to be postponed due to rain.
“The league was supposed to start on the 14th of April, but because netball in Windhoek is an outdoors sport it was suspended due to weather,” said Esther Mbathera, the deputy chairperson of Khomas Netball League (KNL), in a statement availed to Nampa on Monday.
In the first match, Namibian Correctional Facility Sport Club (NCS) defeated Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) 51-23, while Wanderers beat Afrocat Lions 42-41. Both matches were contested in the Premier Division.
The matches were followed by a First Division game between Afrocat Lions 1B and Black Africa, which ended 38-all.
In the Second Division, Rehoboth defeated Tigers 37-25, while United defeated University of Namibia (UNAM) Main Campus 15-0.
In the First Division, NUST defeated Gomonate Fella 41-39, with Tigers edging Tura Magic 52-26.
In the Second Division, Afrocat Lions 2A defeated Black Africa 28-26, while the last game of Saturday saw UNAM Khomasdal coming out victorious against Tura Magic with a 35-26 score.
Sunday’s First Division games saw Tigers defeat Afrocat 1B 46-26, while Afrocat Lions defeated Tura Magic 40-23.
In the Premier Division, NCS edged NamPol 46-30, followed by UNAM Main Campus beating Tigers 40-25.
United lost against Wanderers 22-40 in another First Division match, while NamPol delivered NUST a 42-23 hiding.
The penultimate match on Sunday was the Premier Division encounter between NUST and Wanderers, with the latter winning the match 40-31 while in the Second Division, Afrocat Lions 2A was defeated 22-25 by UNAM Main Campus.
