FNB donates N$100 000 in blankets and mattresses to Cocoma Primary

WINDHOEK, JUNE 13 – FNB Namibia recently handed over N$100 000 worth of matrasses, blankets and pots to Cocoma Primary School.

Cocoma Primary is a remote school in the Kavango East Region, with over 120 learners mostly from the San community. The school has a small community hostel that was in dire need of mattresses, blankets and other equipment.

Speaking at the handover, Kavango East Regional Director of Education, Mr. Kapapero said: “I wish to express my sincere gratitude to FNB and the FirstRand Namibia Foundation for the generous support to our schools in the Kavango East Region. Today we are here to receive blankets and mattresses to the value of N$100 000, but last year FNB also donated items to Dr Romanus Kampungu Secondary and Noordgrens Secondary to the value of N$300 000. The donations demonstrate that FNB has the future of the Namibian child at heart.”

“Education is one of the important sectors for the socio-economic development of this country, and FNB has been assisting this sector through various initiatives and sponsorships. Over the past decade the Foundation has invested millions and is something we will continue to support even in these grim economic times. As a member of the private sector, FNB accepts its responsibility in assisting government in creating inclusive education for all Namibian children. FNB remains committed to the reduction of poverty in Namibia and in particular, aiding the disadvantaged and vulnerable members of our community” said Geraldoh Illarius, FNB Business Manager, Rundu Branch. – NDN Staffer
