Young Brazilians buoyant ahead of PC Blue Boys clash

REHOBOTH, 05 JULY  – Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) Inland Stream winners, Young Brazilians from Karasburg are in buoyant mood ahead of their Namibia Premier League (NPL) promotion play-off against Swakopmund-based PC Blue Boys on Saturday.
Young Brazilians will face the SSFD Coastal Stream winners in the first leg of the tie in Swakopmund at the Mondesa Stadium at 15h00, with the winner of the home and away match assured of promotion to the flagship league.
Team manager of Young Brazilians, Kulus Simboya told Nampa on Tuesday the team has never been ready like they are now.
“For us it is a historical moment to be vying for a spot in the NPL. We have done all the hard work throughout the season and now is the time to reap those rewards,” Simboya said.
She said the players are in a confident mood and are raring to go against the coastal outfit.
“Our preparations have been perfect and the players are well-rested without any injury concerns. Blue Boys should know that we are coming for only one thing and it is to win to have an advantage over the second leg,” she said.
Simboya said they want to rewrite the history books and become the first-ever team from Karasburg to play in the elite division of the country.
“Now is the time to put Karasburg on the footballing map of Namibia and represent them with pride. I am calling on all the Young Brazilian supporters and sympathisers to come out in numbers on Saturday to support the team. With your support we will be able to do Karasburg proud,” she said.
PC Blue Boys coach, Christy Guruseb on Wednesday said they are close to achieving their ultimate goal of playing in the NPL.
“The boys are fired up and positive about playing in the NPL next season. We are working on our scoring as we are wasting too many chances in front of goal,” Guruseb said.
Meanwhile, SSFD acting league administrator, Joshua Tovey ||Hoëbeb told Nampa on Wednesday all logistics are in place for the match.
“It is all systems go. We are ready to oversee that the game is played in good spirit. I am calling on all residents of the coast to come and witness the match,” he said.
