REHOOTH, 24 OCT – A 50-year-old woman arrested on Saturday for the murder of her 60-year-old boyfriend, Malisiu Vatileni, made her first appearance in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Julia Ausiku appeared before Magistrate Desire Kamboua and the case was postponed to 13 November for legal aid application and further police investigations.
The accused was denied bail on the grounds that it will not be in public interest to release her on bail.
It is alleged that Ausiku stabbed the deceased with a kitchen knife on the left side of the chest and that he died in bed where his body was discovered on Saturday morning.
The incident happened at Farm Platsand, 38 kilometres north of Rehoboth.
It is unknown when exactly the incident took place and what led to the stabbing.
It is also suspected that both the deceased and the accused were under the influence of alcohol the evening before the victim’s body was found.
She is detained at the Rehoboth Police holding cells.
