REHOBOTH, 29 MAR – The ||Kharas Region’s Under-20 football team manager said he sees no team stopping them from winning the annual The Namibian Newspaper Cup.
Speaking to Nampa from Katima Mulilo on the eve of the annual regional tournament, Kallie Goliath said they want to play the final and the rest of the games before the final are just formalities.
“We did not travel over 1 700 kilometres for nothing; we are here to play the final and win it. The games before the final are just practice matches for us,” a cheerful Goliath said.
He warned the teams to write them off at their own peril.
“Our biggest weapon for now is the offensive football we play and I am wondering whether there is any team that will stop my boys from playing at will,” Goliath noted.
||Kharas arrived in Rundu Wednesday night and had a light training session Thursday morning.
According to Goliath, the players are fired up to win the elusive trophy for the first time.
“Judging from their attitude, I can see that they’ve come for only one thing and that is to take the trophy home. We will be playing our “carpet football” (passing football) which I believe will give opponents a tough time dealing with us.”
The matches start Friday morning and end Monday afternoon.
