RUNDU, 10 MAY – A 61-year-old man died Monday evening in the Tutaleni informal settlement in Walvis Bay, Erongo Region under yet unknown circumstances.
The cause of death is still being investigated, said Namibian Police Force Crime Coordinator in the Erongo Region, Erastus Iikuyu.
He told Nampa on enquiry Thursday it is alleged that the man passed away while in bed with his 38-year-old girlfriend at about 21h00 at a house along Penguin Street.
The deceased has been identified as Petrus Johannes, and his next of kin have been informed.
Ikuyu appealed to the public to treat the incident with care since the girlfriend has been affected by the event.
“We should treat this case with care, because the lady is physiologically traumatised,” he said.
In an unrelated incident, the body of a 85-year-old German man was found at the Henties Bay dump site at about 12h30 on Monday.
He was found on the ground next to a vehicle by a person who visited the sump site to scavenge for valuables.
It is suspected that the now deceased man went to drop off rubbish at the site, perhaps already on Sunday, due to the condition in which the body was found, said Iikuyu.
“It can be that when he got out of the vehicle he collapsed and died eventually,” said the deputy commissioner.
The deceased’s name is known but cannot be revealed because his next of kin are yet to be informed.
Iikuyu said the man might have been staying alone and does not have family in Namibia.
“His friends are busy tracing the family to inform them about the death.”
No foul play is suspected and the body was taken to the Walvis Bay Police Mortuary for a post mortem to determine the cause of his death.
