MARIENTAL, 28 APR – The ruling party SWAPO celebrated its 58th birthday today in Mariental in the Hardap region.
President Hage Geingob observed a moment of silence in honour of the fallen cadres of the SWAPO party.
Geingob spoke at the same time Founding Father Sam Nujoma was Awarded the O.R Tambo Gold award which was televised live on South African television and, he gave his congratulations message to the founding father for his contribution towards the fight against apartheid.
Geingob said inequality is a serious problem faced by the people and the SWAPO Party government is in the process of addressing inequality through Namibia Equitable Empowerment Framework (NEEF.) He challenged every Namibian to share with those that are not as successful. The President also urged companies in Namibia to empower their employees to own shares in the company.
Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah, who was tasked to introduce the President as a keynote speaker, said that SWAPO will be a vibrant party under Geingob’s Leadership. It was also at the event that it was announced that this year Kasinga day will be commemorated in Windhoek.
