REHOBOTH, SEPT. 10 – A man arrested at Rehoboth for attempted rape and robbery in June this year made his sixth appearance in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court today, when his case was postponed to Thursday.
The accused, Romario Jacobs appeared before Magistrate Desire Kamboua and his case was postponed for a State-funded lawyer to be appointed.
It is alleged that Jacobs attempted to have sexual intercourse with an 18-year-old girl without her consent near the Burgershoek residential area in Rehoboth on 30 June.
He allegedly assaulted and threatened the victim before stealing her cellphone and N$20 and was arrested the same day.
During his first appearance on 02 July, Jacobs indicated that he would apply for legal aid, after which he was denied bail and the case postponed to 02 August for formal bail application.
On 02 August, he was granted bail of N$1 500 and was warned not to contact the complainant or go near her workplace or home and the matter was postponed to 16 August for further police investigations.
The case was however again postponed to 23 August for him to finalise his legal representation, after which it was shifted to 03 September for his lawyer to appear and then to 10 September.
