WINDHOEK, Sept. 25 – On 26 September 2017, the Head of State, President Hage Geingob will travel to Luanda, Angola and attend the inauguration of Mr. Lourenco as the incoming President of the Republic of Angola.
Geingob, and Dr. Sam Nujoma, the Founding President and Father of the Namibian Nation, will attend the inauguration ceremony of the President-elect of the Republic of Angola. Namibia and Angola enjoy excellent bilateral and historic relations, which are further cemented by continued high-level visits and exchanges.
Dr. Geingob will be accompanied by the First Lady, as well as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.
The Republic of Angola held General elections on the 23rd of August 2017. The MPLA won the elections and Honourable João Manuel Concalves Lourenço who is the former Minister of Defence will be sworn in as the 3rd President of the Republic of Angola on 26 September 2017. The Vice-President–elect is H.E. Bornito de Sousa Baltazar Diogo.
President Geingob is expected to have the opportunity for courtesy meetings with both the outgoing President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, as well as the incoming President João Manuel Concalves Lourenço.
