REHOBOTH, 11 JUN – The Kunene Second Division Football League concluded their first leg of matches over the weekend with Outjo Football Academy (FA) opening up a six-point lead at the top of the log.
Confirming the results, league vice chairperson Bensley Hanaseb said the kick-off of the second leg will be announced in due course.
“We completed our first leg and will announce the kick-off of the second leg as soon as the regional executive has decided on a suitable date,” Hanaseb said.
According to Hanaseb, the Round 10 match on Saturday at Etoshapoort Stadium in Outjo between log leaders Outjo FA and sixth-placed Gariseb Orlando Pirates was stopped after Pirates protested a penalty awarded against them. The scores were locked at 1-all at the time.
In other Round 10 matches on Saturday, Green Dangers and Robber Chanties drew 2-all in Kamanjab, while Etosha United hammered Revengers 4-0 in a match played in Okaukuejo.
Elsewhere in Outjo, Bethlehem Boys narrowly defeated Sixty Eleven 1-0, while Young Eagles and Kunene Namibian Police (NamPol) Football Club (FC) drew 2-all at Ombika Stadium.
At Etoshapoort Stadium, PUBS defeated rivals Black Africa Warriors 4-1.
On Sunday, Black Africa Warriors were back to winning ways after defeating Bethlehem Boys 2-1, while Outjo FA hammered a hapless Robber Chanties 5-1 at the Etoshapoort Stadium.
In Okaukuejo in a match played at Ombika Stadium, Young Eagles annihilated Revengers 10-1, while Etosha United and Kunene NamPol drew 0-0 at the same venue.
Green Dangers defeated Gariseb Orlando Pirates 4-1 in Kamanjab, with PUBS making sure of maximum points for the weekend in a 3-0 victory against Sixty Eleven.
At the end of the first leg, Outjo FA tops the log with 27 points, followed by Kunene NamPol in second position on 21 points.
Young Eagles are in third position with 20 points and with a superior goal difference against fourth-placed PUBS, also on 20 points. Etosha United completes the top five with 19 points.
At the bottom of the log are Revengers in 10th position with 9 points, Green Dangers in 11th with 8 points and Robber Chanties with 4 points are rooted at the very bottom in 12th position.
All the teams have played 11 matches so far.
