Oshakati to host Metropolitan-Swabou finals

OSHAKATI, 12 SEP – The inter-regional finals of the 15th edition of the Metropolitan-Swabou Summer Cup are scheduled to take place at the Oshakati Independence Stadium in Oshakati on Friday and Saturday.
Metropolitan-Swabou’s Regional Manager for Northern Namibia, Vende Shanghala told Nampa on Tuesday football and netball school teams from the regions of Oshana, Ohangwena, Erongo, Kavango East, Omusati, //Kharas, Hardap and Oshikoto will participate in the finals.
Oshekasheka Combined School (CS) will represent the host, Oshana Region, in netball and Okau CS will represent the region in football.
Immanuel Uahengo Combined School (football) and Ehafo CS (netball) will represent the Ohangwena Region, while Erongo is to be represented by Karibib Junior Secondary School (JSS) in football and Atlantics JSS in netball and Nyangana CS (football) and Ndiyona CS (netball) will represent the Kavango East Region.
Omusati is to be represented by John Shekudja CS (football) and Oshaaluwata CS (netball); //Kharas by Adam Steve CS (football) and Lordsville CS (netball) and Hardap by Daweb JSS (football) and Danie Joubert CS (netball), while Onyuulaye CS (football) and Ondjamba JSS (netball) will represent Oshikoto.
The winners of the competition in both football and netball will be awarded top prizes of N$15 000, floating trophies and gold medals, the runners-up will receive N$9 000 and silver medals and the third prize will be N$6 000 and bronze medals. There is also a fourth prize of N$4 000.
All eight participating teams will receive football and netball kits at the end of the tournament on Saturday.
Metropolitan-Swabou has committed N$ 450 000 for the prizes and organisation of the tournament. – NAMPA
