Young Brazilians preparing for NPL season

REHOBOTH, SEPT. 6 – Newcomers to the Namibia Premier League (NPL), Young Brazilians from Karasburg are hard at work preparing for the new football season that kicks off in October.
Team coach, Tolla Julius, told Nampa on Thursday that the recently promoted team started with their pre-season training two weeks ago, working mostly on the conditioning of the players.
“We have been working hard to bring the players to full fitness. We have mostly concentrated on their endurance as the level of the NPL is high and we don’t want to be left behind,” Julius said.
He said they aim to stay in the league during their maiden season and kick start things from the next season.
“We are not in the NPL just to add numbers, but to compete and fly the flag of Karasburg and the South high. At the moment, we have not bolstered the squad with new players, but we are negotiating with players to be part of our set-up.”
Julius said the trials for new players will be conducted next week.
“We will have trials for interested players in Karasburg and we urge all players to make their way to the stadium and show what they can offer to be part of the team,” he said.
The Dakaza Boys, who campaigned in the Southern Stream First Division along with Julinho Sporting from the North East First Division, were promoted to the NPL.
Meanwhile, there is still one final spot up for grabs, with the North West First Division second leg promotional play-off set to be played on Saturday, with Military School Okahandja taking a 1-0 lead into the return match against Oshakati-based African Motto.
The match is set to be played at the Oshakati Independence Stadium at 15h00 with the winner guaranteed a spot in the NPL. – NAMPA
