Otavi, June 22 – O&L Fresh Produce, a branch of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group, donated food supplies to feed volunteers working on the town’s clean-up effort for the next three months in partnership with the Otavi Town Council. The transfer ceremony between the two parties took place in Otavi.
Wodibo Haulofu, Chief Executive Officer of the Otavi Town Council, led the handover, explaining the council’s goals to not only clean the town but also to improve its entire attractiveness. Haulofu applauded O&L and Otavifontein for jumping on board so fast after being selected as one of the town’s main stakeholders. He went on to state that one of the fundamental pillars of his office is sustainability, and as a result, they believe in the adage “Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”
The CEO detailed how the town council plans to invest directly in the community of Otavi after purchasing a farm in the neighborhood and distributing some of this land to a program for youth development and another portion to pensioners to be used for agricultural purposes. Pastor Isaac!Hoaeb, the mayor of Otavi, noted that this handover was solidifying the relationship between O&L Fresh Produce and the town council and that the company’s presence had already been felt in the community through the creation of jobs and a donation of land to Otavi Primary School for the improvement of its facilities and athletic fields. “We should all have a role to play, said Hoaeb.
To make this goal a reality, the Otavi Town Council should take the initiative, but we should all get involved. Five pillars support our vision. First, asset-based community development, which recognizes that every member of the community is a resource and has something to offer. Next is ownership. Both our problems and our answers should be our own. Ownership entails involvement. My Otavi, My Pride serves as the campaign’s slogan. We ought to be proud of our community and create a favorable atmosphere for both local residents and potential investors. sustainable development is the third. We aim to become independent and stop relying on donations all the time. The fourth is food safety. obtaining food for our neighborhood. Fifth, take part. We can’t handle it on our own, as a council. We require the engagement of every member of our community, especially the business community, like O&L Fresh Produce, which has graciously and quickly replied to our request for sponsorship for this clean-up initiative.
In his speech, Henry Feris, Managing Director of O&L Fresh Produce, acknowledged the efforts of the Otavi Town Council and stated that the goal of the clean-up campaign and the O&L Group’s Purpose are intertwined in that both organizations committed to “Creating a future, enhancing life.” Feris went on to expound on O&L Fresh Produce’s Vision, which is to “create a greener future for everyone around us.” He stated that the firm intends to do this by driving growth in the local agricultural industry, guaranteeing a clean environment in which they work, and encouraging collaboration with the council to create a sustainable future for the community as a whole.
“The value of this partnership means so much to us, and by donating this game meat and vegetables to this initiative over the next three months, we hope to improve the overall experience of the volunteers and contribute to their well-being during this significant initiative,” Feris mentioned. ~Namibia Daily News
