JERUSALEM, Aug. 4 — Nearly 270,000 Israelis left the country for at least three consecutive months between 2023 and 2025, amid security concerns following the wars and controversy over judicial reform, according to a Tel Aviv University study released on Tuesday.
Based on data from Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics, the study found that 90,922 Israelis departed for three or more consecutive months in 2025, representing about 0.89 percent of Israel’s population of about 10.2 million. The figure mirrors the 2024 level and slightly exceeds the 2023 numbers.
The researchers said the data indicate that the emigration wave that began in 2023 has continued at historically high levels. They estimated that between 45,000 and 50,000 Israelis may have left the country in 2025 for at least one year.
They warned that if the trend continues, rising emigration could strain Israel’s economy and society, particularly due to the loss of highly educated professionals in fields such as technology, medicine, and academia, noting that Israel’s economy relies heavily on skilled human capital.
