WINDHOEK, Mar. 1 — Cricket Namibia today announced a 14-man team that will kick off Namibia’s international cricketing season. The Cricket National Men’s team starts the year off with an 11-day long ODI tri-series against Oman and UAE, which will be hosted in Dubai from March 4 to 14.
“The Eagles will compete in five ODI games which is part of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, whereby the Eagles play three games against Oman, and two games against UAE. It is important for the Eagles to finish the league in a good position to retain ODI status for Namibia,” said cricket Namibia.
Speaking on the importance of the tournament, National Men’s Head Coach Pierre De Bruyn said it was important for the Eagles to work toward retaining ODI status.
“The conditions at the ICC Academy Oval and at Sharjah cricket ground are tricky but we had the opportunity to play at these venues at the recently held World Cup.”
Namibia will face off against Oman on March 6th and face the United Arab Emirates on March 8th before two more fixtures against Oman on March 11 and 14 respectively and another against UAE on March 12. – musa@namibiadailynews.info
