RUNDU, 01 JUN – The newly constructed service centre of the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund in Rundu was officially inaugurated on Thursday by Kavango East Governor, Samuel Mbambo.
Mbambo inaugurated the centre on behalf of Works and Transport Minister, John Mutorwa.
Mutorwa in his speech read on his behalf said the inauguration of the new office building clearly denotes the willingness and preparedness of the MVA Fund in supporting government’s efforts towards decentralization policy of bringing equitable access to services to all Namibians.
The Minister stressed that he wished the MVA Fund success in the envisaged greater expansion of its footprint to eventually have its presence in all the country’s fourteen regions.
Mutorwa added that as a statutory organ of government, the fund fulfils its patriotic duty through the prudent dispensation of relevant benefit claims to persons, who are affected by road crashes through injury, fatality or as dependents of those who lose their lives in such road crashes.
“Road crashes affect every single citizen of this country, be it personally, through the loss of loved ones, the loss of young and active people who are the backbone of our country’s economic prosperity, or the loss of intellectuals and leaders who would be able to ensure the attainment of our national objectives,” said Mutorwa.
MVA Fund Board Chairperson, Herman Shitaleni in his closing remarks said as a public enterprise, the fund has exceptionally promoted national developmental efforts through various efforts over the years.
Therefore, Shitaleni stressed that establishing permanency in the Kavango East Region through the new office is quite crucial in the fulfilment of the fund’s mandate as well as responding to government’s national developmental goals.
The MVA Fund now has seven service centre in seven regions.
