OKAHAO, FEB 11 – A 21 year old man killed his girlfriend and injured two people on Friday before turning a gun on himself in the area of Onesi constituency of Omusati Region, according to regional spokesperson Inspector Linekela Shikongo. The incident occurred around 19h00 at Oshipinga village.
“The suspect, allegedly shot the victim – his girlfriend – once with the shotgun on her left side of the ribs and she died on the spot,” said Shikongo.
According to Shikongo, the suspect allegedly fled from the crime scene after the shooting.
The deceased was identified as 22 year-old, Kalumbu Ndapandula Magano, a resident of Onangombe village, in the Omusati region. Injured victims were identified as 21-year old Shipwata Samuel and 35 year old Petrus David. Both are reside in Oshipinga village.
The suspect allegedly fired gunshots to people who had gathered in the vicinity of the scene, culminating in the injuries of Samuel and David, who were rushed to Tsandi District Hospital where they received treatment and were later discharged.
Said Shikongo: “After firing at the people, the suspect set off into the darkness whereby the police chased after him.”
After the shooting, police in the region launched a manhunt for the suspect that began on Saturday and ended on Sunday morning.
“He was later discovered died after he ended his life by shooting himself with a rifle belonging to his uncle at around 08h30 at Uuhongo Village in Onesi Constituency,” according to Shikongo.
Shikongo added that the murder weapon was recovered, as well as a 303 rifle that he used to committed suicide. – NDN Staffer
