WINDHOEK, 15 SEP – The Brave Gladiators drew 0-0 with Uganda in their second match of the 2018 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Women’s Championship at the Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth Saturday.
In a match monitored online from Cosafa’s Twitter account, the two teams failed to find the target in the 90 minutes of play.
This was the first goalless match of the 2018 Women’s Championships.
The result will not do Namibia’s quest to advance from the group stages any good as they now need Zimbabwe to beat Uganda decisively, while they also beat Swaziland in their last group stages.
Zimbabwe top the group on six points following victories over Namibia and Swaziland, scoring four goals and conceding none.
Uganda is second with four points following a victory and draw over the Swaziland and the Gladiators respectively.
Namibia is third with one point and one goal conceded, while Swaziland anchors the group with zero points.
Namibia will play Swaziland on Monday at Gelvandale Stadium in the final group game, while Zimbabwe and Uganda will face off at Wolfson Stadium.
Both matches will kick off at 10h00.
Nothing but a convincing victory will guarantee Namibia progression from the group stages, as long as Zimbabwe defeats Uganda.
A draw or win for Uganda will eliminate the Gladiators.
Namibia’s captain Emma Naris was named woman of the match for the second game in a row.
