WINDHOEK, 11 APR – A breakfast meeting by Prosperity Group, MMI Holdings Namibia and Allan Gray will be held Thursday to scrutinise President Hage Geingob’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) to be delivered Wednesday.
An invitation to the event sent by Fortune Publications Wednesday said fact-checking the SONA can help transform Namibia, from a business point of view, “before it is countered by a rebuttal address from the opposition in Parliament”.
Panellists include the president’s five advisers and invited speakers comprising Allan Gray Namibia Managing Director James Mnyupe, Founder of Trustco Group Holdings Quinton van Rooyen, Consulting General Manager of the Construction Industries Federation of Namibia Barbel Kirchner, founder and Managing Director of Business Financial Solutions Kauna Ndilula, Executive Chairperson of the Hangala Group Leake Hangala, and Chief Executive Officer of Prosperity Africa Holdings Bertus Struwig.
“Compounded by the current economic climate, the increased need for accountability, the fight against corruption, the land question and the Harambee Prosperity Plan, this year’s SONA will be one of the most expected,” reads the invitation.
The SONA review allows the private sector to track and assess the government agenda, while unpacking the accomplishments to the Namibian people.
It is also an opportunity for the business sector to respond to the president on how the government is doing regarding issues that are important to the nation, according to Fortune Publications.
