Geingob joins world leaders in condemning Venezuela bomb attack
WINDHOEK, 09 AUG – President Hage Geingob has joined other world leaders in condemning the callous attack on the leadership, democracy and sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
In a letter addressed to the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro on Monday, Geingob said he learned with dismay of the bomb attack which happened during the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Bolivarian National Guard.
Reuters reported on Saturday that a failed assassination attempt involving drones carrying explosives detonated at a military event in Caracas where Maduro was speaking.
“We join in solidarity with Your Excellency, the government and the people of Venezuela during this tumultuous time and wish for a swift and peaceful investigation, which will bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act of cowardice to justice,” Geingob said in the letter.
He said he had no doubt that the will of patriotic Venezuelans coupled with Maduro’s leadership qualities would help them overcome this challenge and that the Venezuelan president would continue to lead the people of that country to greater peace, stability and shared prosperity.
