WINDHOEK, JUNE 21 – FNB Namibia recently donated N$15,000, 20 refurbished computers valued at N$30,000 and two water containers valued at N$10,600 to Sakaria H. Nghikembua Primary School.
Sakaria H. Nghikembua Primary School is situated in Ohangwena and has 142 learners. Lessons are conducted in two permanent classrooms, with the rest in makeshift structures; and currently there is no portable water or electricity at the school.
“FNB Namibia, through the FirstRand Namibia Foundation Trust, is delighted to assist the children of Sakaria H. Nghikembua Primary School with this equipment. As a business, FNB has the responsibility to contribute to skills development of the learners of the school, and to support the nation for equitable prosperity and ensuring a sustainable inclusive economy”, said Toini Uugulu, FNB Branch Manager of Eenhana and Okongo.
Responding to the donation, the school’s namesake, Sakaria Nghikembua, thanked FNB as a responsible corporate citizen which has demonstrated true commitment to the development of the country over the years. “FNB not only does its business in the communities but it also supports them. Its commitment to education has been demonstrated time and again over the breadth of this country. We sincerely thank them and commit to ensuring that their donation is appropriately used for the benefit of the children”, says Nghikembua. – NDN Staffer
