SWAKOPMUND, 23 May 2022 – Four shacks were destroyed by fire at different times in DRC informal settlement, Swakopmund on Saturday.
According to Police Inspector Ileni Shapumba, a fire of unknown cause broke out in a shack on the sea side of DRC at about 19h55 causing it to burn to ashes. No fatalities or injuries were reported although property was destroyed by the fire. Police and a Swakopmund Fire Brigade officer attended to the blaze. The cause is being investigated.
At about 22h30, another three shacks caught on fire also in DRC informal settlement.
Again there were no injuries or fatalities recorded, but damage to property was reported.
Police as well as fire brigade officers responded to the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze
The cause of the fire is still not known, and investigations continue. – Namibia Daily News
