REHOBOTH, 21 SEP – The Danie Joubert Combined School in Mariental on Thursday rewarded learners in grades 4 to 7 who performed exceptionally over the 2018 academic year.
Speaking during the ceremony, outgoing Head Girl, Kealebogile Olibile thanked all teachers for being there for them.
“Your hard work, love and commitment is noticeable in us as we are being awarded for excellent academic performances tonight,” said Olibile.
She applauded her fellow learners who received certificates for their achievements, saying their hard work paid off.
The head girl motivated and encouraged those who missed out on awards, urging them to work harder next year and set targets to reach their goals.
Learners who achieved 60 to 74 percent received certificates for constant and conscientious work, while excellent and scholastic achievement awards were given to those who scored 75 per cent and above.
The top two learners in Grade 4 were Keandrey Kaoseb and Lianie van Zyl.
Van Zyl was also rewarded for being the top achiever in her class with 87 percent as well as for the highest academic achievement in Grade 4.
The Grade 5 top learner was Leandra Eelu, who achieved 77 per cent. She was the top performer in her class as well as the grade.
Grade 6 top two learners were Mjay van Wyk and Ajay van Wyk.
Mjay recorded 81 percent, while Ajay achieved 77 percent.
The top performer in Grade 7 was Zaida April with 78 percent.
Principal Lappies Labuschagne thanked all sponsors that made the event possible.
