ONDANGWA, 09 APR – An amount of N.dollars 485 300 in pledges was made during a gala dinner held to raise funds for the Ondangwa Trade and Industrial Expo on Saturday.
The eighth Ondangwa Trade and Industrial Expo will take place from 27 April to 05 May 2018.
Speaking during the gala dinner at Ondangwa, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah complimented the Ondangwa Town Council on how far it has come with the expo and the town’s development over the years.
“I congratulate you for your hard work and in the same context, applaud individuals and the business community for having found time from your other activities, to be here,” she said.
The deputy prime minister said the town has the potential to become an economically vibrant urban area.
“We have a historical and moral responsibility to see to it that Ondangwa is developed as its development will add value to the history of our country.”
Nandi-Ndaitwah also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the council has changed the dynamics of the expo, noting that it no longer concentrates on exhibitions only, but further introduced a business forum and networking.
“Invention can be the foundation of wealth creation and economic growth, which are the bases for employment creation and poverty eradication,” the deputy prime minister said.
She urged business people to invest in targeted training and to venture into manufacturing and value addition.
