WINDHOEK, 22 MAY – A Cessna 210 flown by a trainee pilot landed on its belly at the Eros Airport in Windhoek Tuesday morning.
The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) said in a media statement the aircraft crashed around 09h30.
“The trainee pilot, studying at the Windhoek Flight Training Centre, was the only person in the aircraft during the accident and survived,” it said.
The aircraft belongs to the trainee pilot student whose identity was not revealed because investigations into the accident are in the initial stages.
The Directorate of Aircraft Accident Investigations under the Ministry of Works and Transport immediately secured and cleared the scene and their investigations also continue.
No significant damage to the runway or airport facilities was observed and operations at the airport are back to normal.
