Bank Windhoek Junior Hockey Development teams awarded

WINDHOEK, Sept. 25 – On Wednesday, 20 September 2017, the Bank Windhoek Junior Hockey Development League held its prize giving ceremony for participating teams.
A record number of 97 teams participated in the recently concluded Bank Windhoek Hockey Development League, which started in June and ended mid-August.

The Bank Windhoek Development League is an initiative from the Namibia Hockey Union’s (NHU) Hockey Development Programme. It aims to develop the sport of hockey in Namibia by educating and grooming talented hockey players from a young age.

In total, 361 matches were played and 968 players were registered, representing an increase of 35 percent over the past two years. The age groups consisted of 8, 10, 12 and 14 years in both the boys and the girls divisions.

“We’d like to thank Bank Windhoek for its continued support and look forward to our future partnership in development,” said Marc Nel, President of the Namibian Hockey Union.
“Well done again to the Namibian Hockey Union for managing this well-organized league. We also want to thank the parents and coaches involved in hockey, who are very passionate about what they do. We share their passion for this great sport,” said André le Roux, communications practitioner at Bank Windhoek.
“Bank Windhoek believes that our financial contribution assists the NHU in organising quality leagues for the players to gain the skills and experience needed as they grow in the sport. “We trust that the NHU will continue with the good work that they are doing to develop hockey in Namibia,” Le Roux concluded.
