Archbishop Nashenda turns 60


WINDHOEK, APRIL 7 – Catholics in Namibia celebrated today the birthday of Archbishop Liborius Nashend who tuned 60 on the 4th of April.

“Our Archbishop Nashenda is celebrating his 60th Birthday today, 7 April 2019. Therefore, we would like to extend a sincere congratulations to His Grace Archbishop Nashenda,” read a church newsletter today.

“May the good Lord continue to guide and protect him in his ministry as the overseer of the Namibian Catholic Church.”

Born on 4 April 1959 in Oshikuku, Omusati Region, Nashenda is a Namibian Roman Catholic archbishop, who was ordained as priest on June 25, 1988. Ten years later on November 5 he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Windhoek and was ordained on February 7, 1999 as the Titular Bishop of Pertusa. On November 14, 2004 he became Archbishop of Windhoek, serving from St. Mary’s Cathedral.

The widely celebrated Archbishop was, on Namibia’s Heroes’ Day in 2014, conferred the Most Brilliant Order of the Sun, Second Class by then President Hifikepunye Pohamba.
