Walvis Bay, July 25 – African Deli, a fully Namibian-owned manufacturing business, that specialises in ready-to-eat processed foods, launched a baked bean in tomato sauce product last weekend at Walvis Bay.
The new baked beans are an addition to African Deli’s ‘heat and eat’ product range.
This initiative is in line with the “Buy Local, Grow Namibia” campaign that was introduced by the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade to stimulate the consumption of locally produced goods and services.
This also creates awareness of the importance of consuming locally manufactured goods and services and also educates consumers about the economic and social benefits that local businesses bring to communities.
During the launch, the Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Lucia Iipumbu, said the initiative by the company to produce locally and deliver to local, regional, and international markets competitively is admirable.
“This is a step in the right direction as a country in creating food security and promoting local business initiatives and domestic investments, which may culminate, in business integration and exports,” she said.
