Windhoek, Jan. 8 – Newly appointed Intercontinental Youth Connect (IYC) Ambassadors Tjihinga Edward and Tjipura Tjipura are calling on Namibian youth to move from the margins into leadership and decision-making spaces at regional and national level.
Intercontinental Youth Connect is a global youth platform that promotes leadership, civic participation and cross-continental collaboration. Through the platform, young people are connected to leadership development programmes, mentorship, international dialogue and networking opportunities.
Edward said young people make up a significant portion of Namibia’s population but remain underrepresented in spaces where key decisions are taken. “When youth take up space, policies become more relevant, inclusive and future-focused,” he said.
As ambassadors, the duo will mobilise youth across the country, facilitate dialogue on issues affecting young people and link Namibian youth to regional and global opportunities.
“Youth leadership is not about waiting for permission. It starts with participation, responsibility and action,” Edward said. Namibia Daily News
