Katima Mulilo, July 17 – With a spirited 1-0 victory over Lesotho in the COSAFA Cup final at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, South Africa, Zambia has successfully defended its championship.
Lesotho played quite well and dominated both halves of the game. But by a stroke of luck, Zambia was able to score the deciding goal that separated them from their rivals.
Moyela Libamba, a forward for Zambia, scored the game’s opening goal in the 79th minute by rising high to meet a corner kick from Joshua Mutale.
This remarkable achievement grants Zambia its seventh COSAFA title, establishing a new record in the competition’s history.
The triumph serves as a well-deserved redemption for Zambia, who initially struggled at the start of the tournament but gradually gained momentum, akin to a steadily revving diesel engine. ~Namibia Daily News
