Oshakati, Oct. 27 – Police in Oshana have arrested a 28-year-old Namibian Martin Nehale for allegedly setting alight his 81-year-old grandmother Bertha Andrea’s house at Uukwedhidhi village at around 19h00 on Saturday (22.10.2022).
According to police reports the suspect was allegedly demanding money from his grandmother who said she did not have any.
This angered Nehale who threatened to set his grandmother’s house on fire. He allegedly went to buy petrol at Oshakati and came back home to break the window panes of the house before setting it on fire.
Nobody was injured in the blaze but the fence of the house was destroyed and a thatched room “ondjugo” was. The damaged property was valued at about N$7 000.
Investigations into the matter are continuing.
