WINDHOEK, 18 SEP – President Hage Geingob will travel to the United States of America (USA) on Wednesday to attend the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
According to a media statement released Monday by the Office of the President, Geingob will be in the USA until 28 September.
He will have brief stopovers on his way to New York, the statement said.
On 19 September, the Head of State will be in Guinea on an official working visit where he will meet with that country’s President, Alpha Conde. On 21 September, he will proceed to Canada where he will have a meeting with Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.
The working visits to Guinea and Canada will focus on strengthening bilateral relations in the areas of trade and investment, the statement said.
In addition to delivering a statement to the United Nations General Assembly on 26 September, Geingob will participate in the inaugural meeting of the High Level Panel on Building A Sustainable Ocean Economy on 25 September on invitation by the Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg.
He will also address world leaders at the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit: United Nations High Level Plenary on Global Peace and the Bloomberg Global Business Forum and will further participate in a high-level meeting on financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Geingob will also attend a high level meeting on the fight to end tuberculosis.
Geingob is also expected to hold meetings with the President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabrar-Kitarovic ; President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and Prime Minister of Ireland, Leo Varadkar.
In addition, he will meet up with the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, as well as the President of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid and Norway’s Prime Minister, Erna Solberg. – NAMPA
