16-year-old arrested for killing 36-year-old man in Windhoek

REHOBOTH, 15 OCT  – A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly killing 36-year-old Stefanus Iilonga by stabbing him with a knife on Saturday in Windhoek’s Ongulumbashe Location.
A weekend Namibian Police Froce crime report issued on Monday said the incident happened at about 19h30.
It is alleged that the deceased borrowed money from the suspect and when the suspect demanded his money back, the deceased could not pay back, prompting the suspect to stab the deceased in the chest with a knife.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
In another incident on Saturday at about 17h30, a body of an adult male was found floating in Goreangab Dam near the Penduka accommodation outlet in Windhoek.
The identity of the deceased is unknown.
The police have requested anyone who is missing a family member to visit the Windhoek Police Mortuary for identification purposes.
In an unrelated incident, police in Walvis Bay opened a theft case on Saturday.
It is reported that at about 13h20 at Walvis Bay’s Lagoon opposite Pelican-Inn; a suspect allegedly used an unknown object to open the complainant’s vehicle and stole his belongings.
The belongings are one Nikon camera, cash of N.dollars 4 600, an identity document, a driving licence, medical aid card, and firearm licence, along with a sports cap.
The total value is estimated at about N.dollars 24 800.
The complainant is a 57-year-old South African male tourist.
Four suspects between the ages of 26 to 29 were arrested and all items except the money were recovered and their get-away vehicle, which belonged to one of the suspects, was impounded.
Police investigations continue.
