WINDHOEK, Feb. 22 – This year’s Independence Celebrations will be held in Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region.
On 21 March 2018, Namibians in the country and abroad will engage in the annual Independence Celebrations.
A letter from George Simataa, Secretary to Cabinet and Chairman of the National Preparatory Committee dated 20 February 2018, addressed to Governor of Oshikoto Region Henock Kankoshi confirmed that President Hage Geingob had directed the 28th Independence Celebrations to be conducted there.
“As the host of this important national event, your Region is required to lead the preparations. However, a technical team from Windhoek will soon visit your Office to advise on the way forward,” read the letter.
The Tsumeb Governor was also advised to convene a Local Organising Committee to kick-start the planning and organisation process for the celebrations. – NDN Staffer
