LUANDA, Feb. 10 — A train carrying 818 tons of fuel derailed on Wednesday in northern Angola, the Directorate of the Luanda Railways said in a statement.
The derailment took place in the city of Ndalatando in Cuanza Norte Province as the train was en route from Angola’s capital of Luanda to the country’s northern province of Malanje, turning over 8 of the 14 boxcars and causing complete damage to 2 boxcars and about 150 meters of the railway track, it said.
Investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident, it said, adding that the local train service has been suspended until a technical recovery. – XINHUA
