— South Africa will learn Tuesday whether the country has entered a technical recession when Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) releases real gross domestic product figures for the second quarter of the year.

— South African police are turning the tide against police killings with the number of officers dying in the line of duty coming down over the past three years, Police Minister Bheki Cele revealed on Sunday.
A total of 29 police officers were killed in the last financial year, a significant decrease as compared to the 57 in 2016/2017 financial year, according to the minister. (South African Broadcasting Corporation).
